Neo-Homesteading

Neo-Homesteading
"Eating sometimes real, sometimes raw, but always homemade foods,
eliminating processed goods whenever possible."

Neo-Homesteading to me is the modern realistic homesteading movement. Many of people truly lived self sufficiently in the 70's during the back to the land movement, whether in communes or on private land they ate what they grew, hunted and cooked themselves. Since man was created we relied on our own abilities to feed ourselves and stay alive. In the recent 100 years however there has been a revolution of technology that has twisted mans interpretation of living and eating. Food has become genetically altered, sterilized "food product". Consumers often are not allowed the right to choose what they are eating.  I'm re-living the homesteading movement in my own creative ways, primarily through food. I'm living on a one acre piece of land in the Pocono Mountains. I'm a neo-homemaker, a modern homeschooling mother with a passion for cooking real foods. To me Neo-Homesteading is living my life surrounded by plenty of nature, and hoping that every day that passes I'm giving my loved ones: my children, the best I can give them by cooking our meals at home. I'm cherishing every blessing that comes my way and making the best of every moment I have. Its not allowing myself to be overwhelmed with what I don't have, but really truly believing that I have everything I need. Living off of the land does not necessarily specify that your living “off the grid”, its cherishing your space, whatever piece of the earth you may have, however large or small and taking absolute advantage of it and ideally making less of an impact in the process.

I truly believe that the only way to insure good quality food is by making it yourself, cooking from scratch with your own two hands . By doing so, love and time is truly the only additive. Food is what fuels your body and energizes you, but it also fuels your soul, and raises your spirits. You will not live forever but the impressions you make along the way can help mold the future generations. Its up to the next generation, this generation of food lovers to keep the flame burning. Sharing memories and meals with my readers is my way of passing along my love. Filling family recipes, new and old alike. I am happy to share our  meals with each and every one of you. I would love to share this journey with you.
